First of all, Ethan had woken up on Saturday morning and threw up after breakfast and then was fairly calm but slightly out of sorts the rest of the day. While I was at work that night he apparently fell asleep on Ben's shoulder at the early hour of 7. We were hoping that some much needed rest would cure his ailments, but it wasn't so.
On Sunday morning when Ethan got up he was crying the way he does right before he throws up. He wanted some juice and after about 5 minutes, it came right back up. We decided against having him go to church and be in close proximity to about 10 other kids during nursery, so I went solo to church. He seemed to be feeling better once I got home though he still wasn't the happiest camper. We warned our friends whom we were going to have a cookout with that Ethan was sick, but since he didn't have a temperature we figured he'd be ok coming with us to their house.
We were able to enjoy a great dinner with the Richards and a set of ASL Missionaries. After dinner the boys went down to the basement with the Dads and played while Jen and I talked. We then headed downtown for the fireworks. Ethan still wasn't a happy camper but at least he was ok being held by Ben and would occasionally look up every now and then to see some fireworks. We had been downtown for the fireworks 2 years ago and they were great. They didn't disappoint this year either, and luckily we didn't have too much trouble getting out of the city after it was all done. Ethan pretty much crashed on the way home and went straight to bed letting Ben and I relax for a little bit.
We're glad that Ethan was able to somewhat enjoy the 4th, even though I think we had more fun and delicious food than he did. I think he ate a total for 15 Ritz crackers, some water and 1/4 of a hot dog bun the entire day. Poor kid. Though it may sound like our day was kind of a bummer, we had a great night thanks to the Richards. Plus the 4th of July really boils down to being able to enjoy family, friends, food and fireworks, right? Well we were 4 for 4, so I would call it a success.

Love your cookie cake! So sad Ethan was sick, but we are even sadder that we haven't seen him for a while, and i guess it will be a while longer... The only thing that keeps us happy are the new pictures on the blog and an occasional Skype-ing!
Ask your friend Jen if she was a server at Tony Roma's. I think we worked together.
Thanks for the post! We were so happy you guys could come over (and that you were smart enough to bring your camera along!)!! Poor Ethan, but he was a trooper :)
p.s. to answer C-biscuit (sweet profile name!) I was!!
ok..that is where I know him from!!! (And maybe we had a class together?) Mystery solved.
Fun that you got to hang out with the Richards!! Bryson is hilarious. How much longer til baby girl arrives?
