1. A superhero cape for Ethan. The other day he took the blanket out of his baby sister's crib and wrapped it around him and said he was a "su-er-tero" (that's how it sounds when he says superhero). I thought that maybe I should make him a cape myself and found a great tutorial online yesterday and whipped it up in a couple hours. He loved it when it was done, but when Ben came home and put it on Ethan didn't want to wear it anymore because he thought it was more fun when Dad did. No worries though, he's back to wearing it himself today.
2. New burp cloths for the baby. If this baby is anything like Ethan was, she'll be going through plenty of burp cloths. I wanted something more than the thin diaper cloth rags I had from last time so I decided to make them a little cuter with some flannel backing. Once again, I found a tutorial and ran with it. They're pretty gender neutral so if they happen to last through this baby I'll be able to use them again.
3. A pillow for the glider. I had a pillow that I loved, but the colors didn't match the new decor so I found this fabric while at JoAnn's yesterday and thought it would be perfect. The pinks and greens will go with her bedding, while the brown will tie in with the cherry crib and vanity.
4. A cucumber. This has been my longest project yet! Geesh. My sister and I transplanted the plants to the garden back in early June and 2 months later we get the first fruits of our literal labors. Ok, so this is the 2nd cucumber our garden has produced, but this one is prettier than the last. I'm still not sure as to why our squash will flower and then produce nothing. The flowers will fall, and there is no squash growing. And who knows what's going on with the tomatoes. Seriously. I have no luck with gardens, or maybe since it's been a hot summer it hasn't been so successful.

Peel and cut up your cucumber, add thinly sliced red onion, fresh tomato chunks, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt and lots of pepper. Top it off with feta cheese. Voila! A greek salad. You can also add this to chopped romaine lettuce hearts. Yum.
Anyway, love your projects and I am glad Ethan wants to be a super hero again. We miss him so much!
Ok....
Love, love love the cape. I bookmarked that one. I love the applique too, so cute! Ethan looks like he is in heaven, he's darling!
And a button on the pillow... looks like I have some catching up to do. You are pulling ahead with your sewing skills sistah!! I love it!
Way to be productive! That's a lot of little projects you've nocked out. Love how cute Ethan is in his cape. Very impressive.
Like watermelon and pumpkin, squash have male and female flowers. The flowers are falling off because
1) no bees to make the magic happen
or
2) no male flowers
or
3) no female flowers
Supposedly you can take the male flowers and rub them into the female flowers ... Scandalous!
Anyhow your capes look amazing as well as all the other projects.
First, love the hair! So cute and short. I don't think I've seen it that short on you.
Love the cape and I'm sure Beau will want one eventually. I will have to put that in my favorites.
And I love the pillow. Did you just make up the pattern or did you find a tutorial online? I also want to get some of that fabric! So cute! Do you remember what brand it was?
Talk to you soon

I'm in love with the fabric for your pillow. So cute!
YES!!! Something in that garden grew, success!
Fun projects!!! You are so creative. Can't wait to see your little lady... she is going to be so precious. How is Ethan doing with his bed? Don't hesitate to make his room a "crib"... i.e. turn around the door handle so you can lock it from the outside or put up a gate in his doorway (I swear I am not a totally mean mom). After a night or two of falling alseep on the floor after throwing a tantrum that he can't get out of his room, that bed will look more and more appealing. Trust me, it works!
Our 10th grade clothing teacher would be proud Amanda! What a beautiful pillow! How did you do that?
I love your projects! I especially love the fabrics you used for the burp cloths and the pillow. Cute.
