Wedding Weekend #1

Since I have 2 weddings to go to within a week, I decided I'd post about each one. This weekend we were able to travel down to Northern Virginia for Ben's brother's wedding. We've been looking forward to this weekend since Jacob and Julia got engaged over Thanksgiving and it turned out to be fabulous.

We got in on Thursday afternoon and the ladies headed over to my SIL Julie's for a bridal shower for Julia. Julie is quite the party planner and hosted a really nice shower. She made the menu, the food (with help from my SIL Rebecca) and they had a whole birds theme which included paper cranes spread around the room and ceiling. Since Jacob and Julia met in Japanese class in high school, the food was all Asian inspired and was so good. While we were chatting and watching Julia open presents, the boys and all the kids went to Chuck E. Cheese's to entertain the 9 kids under the age of 10. Quite the bachelor party if you ask me.

Friday consisted of some last minute wedding plans, a trip to the Water Mine for all the grand kids, flower picking for the bride and groom, and a visit with one of my best friends Kirby whom I hadn't seen in over 2 years! We had a busy day that ended with dinner with all the immediate family of the bride and groom. 17 adults, 10 kids and 13 delicious sub sandwiches. It's a bummer I shouldn't eat deli meat while being pregnant.

Ethan in his superhero cape and cousin Stella in Julia's shoes. She's a shoe fanatic.

An unhappy Ethan (he just woke up from a nap) with me and Kirby.

Bath time with the cousins is inevitable on these trips.

On Saturday we were able to go to the Washington DC Temple to witness the sealing of Jacob and Julia. It was a beautiful ceremony and an equally beautiful day considering how hot it had been the days previous. After the temple we went to Julia's parents house where they exchanged rings and a couple vows and we feasted on some Ecuadorian food. You could visibly tell how happy Jacob and Julia were and it was great to be a part of their special day.

It's a good thing they changed their clothes.

Next up, Tyler and Summer's San Diego Temple sealing with the Bruford fam sans Ben and Ethan.
