One Amazing Week

It's hard to believe that the one week we had been looking forward to for months is already over! It all started last Sunday with Ben's graduation. 3 years of hard work officially ended with graduation on the lawn. Though the main UVA commencement speaker, John Grisham, was less than stellar, the scene was pretty amazing. They pack SO many people on to the lawn in front of the rotunda. We saw some grads get busted for having alcohol and even some climbing the Thomas Jefferson statue. I would have to say it was a little more interesting than my graduation at BYU.

The Law School graduation was held on the lawn in front of the law school and the speaker was a UVA Law School Alumni and Governor of Arizona. It was kind of sad how much better her speech was than John Grisham's. Both of our parents were able to come watch Ben graduate which was pretty neat. After the graduation we drove up to Northern Virginia for a celebration at Legal Sea Foods (no pun intended - honestly) with friends and family. After dinner we headed home to get some rest before our early flight the next morning.

We caught our flight early Monday morning at 6 a.m. We met up with my brother Tyler in Miami and killed some time before our last leg of our flight to Cayman. We got to Cayman around 1 in the afternoon and as soon as we got our luggage into our rooms, we headed out to the beach and went snorkeling. Afterwards we were all pretty beat so we took a long nap, followed by some food shopping, a homemade meal (courtesy of one my favorite chefs... my Dad) and then we did some work! Most days were spent just like this and we loved it! The condo we stayed in is beautiful and I'm not just saying that because my Dad built a lot of the interior. Plus you can't beat the view and location to the beach. I don't think anyone would pass up a chance to work in the Caymans waxing furniture if they could stay in the condo we stayed in.

The next morning we woke up bright and early for some scuba diving. We ended up being able to do 8 dives while we were there. We got to see tons of lobsters, a crab, sting rays, barracudas, puffer fish, sea turtles, eels, squids, sea urchins and hundreds of tropical fish. I talked to my Mom today who since she, my Dad and sister are still there said they got to go diving today and they saw a hammer head shark! Ben and I were pretty jealous, though I can't complain about all that we did get to see on our dives.

Lots of dives, a trip to Hell, Georgetown, Rum Point, being lazy and gaining about 5 pounds or so with all the good food and snacks we had pretty much sums up our trip. We loved every second of it especially since I didn't get sun burned! I think that's a first for me. I hope we get a chance to go back sometime soon. Even if it does mean a little work on the side.

Here are a couple, okay a bunch, of pictures from our trip. Enjoy!

Wow. My week was pretty much the same as yours...

Glad you had such a good time. Congrats again on graduation Ben. Can't wait until the Bar is done.

Congratulations on graduation! Are we going to see you on the 21st? Hope so...

Jealousy. Is that a deadly sin? Because I have it. ps--love the new look. I need to work on mine.

I am honored to have spent the week with the both of you. I think I gained at least 5 pounds. 1 for the Rum Cake, 1 for cheetos, 1 for Salami, 1 for Guacamole and chips, and at least 1 for eating out every night.

The water was murkier than I remember, but the memories are still great. You now have your copy of Bahama mama, you're stoked.

Oh, and you wrote Alumni for a singular feminine person. It's properly spelled alumnae. Alumnus for males. Alumni for plural, kinda like fungi. FYI.
