I think it actually took too much effort on my part for the Department of State to make me happy, but good news is... I'm getting my passport!!! After about 4 phone calls yesterday and speaking with Joan, Darci and Peter, calling and writing a letter to my local Congressman Mr. Virgil Goode and then 3 more phone calls today to people I decided not to record the names of, I got the good news! I was getting so frustrated since every time I called I'd be on hold for at least 15 minutes (yesterday was a record breaking 28 minute hold) and then the person would tell me something totally different from the last person I had spoken to. But ugh, such a relief it's over! I've been so antsy, anxious and aggravated at work and I've even had my co-workers worrying for me. I guess all the phone calls and nagging paid off. Let's just hope it really does get over-nighted and arrives tomorrow.
Word to the wise: Allow more than 10 weeks if you are trying to renew your passport. Otherwise fork out the extra $60 to get it expedited.

Thank goodness! I should have thought to tell you to call your congressman, myself. I had a similar crisis with papers caught between government agencies years ago, and only a call to Mac Mathias' office straightened it out, and in short order, too. Looking forward to seeing your folks tonight.
Wow. I am going to call you if I ever have anything like this happen. You get things done!
Lucky! I just did the same and ended up expediting for our trip to Mexico this summer.
