9 Months Old

You know it's time to update the blog when your next door neighbor comments that it's been a while since your last post. 3 weeks?!? Wow, where has the time gone? And seriously, how is it that Eleanor is already 9 months old? She has changed so much in the last month, it's crazy. She is an expert crawler and now she is pulling herself up on anything and everything... walls, ottomans, couches, people and chairs. We have a feeling she will be walking before she's 1 and it's a good thing since she's so hefty! At her appointment this morning she weighed in at 23 lbs. 12 oz. and is in the 95th percentile for height (something like 30 inches tall). In fact, about a month or so ago my back started hurting again because of all the bending over and picking up I have to do, so I preemptively made an appointment with the orthopedic specialist whom I finally met with yesterday and I've got an epidural scheduled in a couple weeks to help with the pain.

Anyway, this post is about Eleanor, and despite her heftiness she is a joy. For the past few weeks she's been cutting at least 3 teeth so she hasn't been a happy camper. She was also running a fever for 4 days so we finally took her to urgent care and they diagnosed it as a "teething fever". On our family vacation to Boston and Portsmouth, NH this last week she ran the gamut of emotions. Totally miserable one day, and a crack up the next. She's got some crazy shrieking skills and when she clenches her fists and screams it can be both annoying and hysterical at the same time. She loves to stare at people and gets in a sort of trance when she sees somebody new for the first time. She's a little bit shy, but will generally go to anyone if they offer to hold her. She loves her brother and he puts up with her clawing at him and shrieking better than the rest of us. She goes to bed really well, but has been waking up at least once in the middle of the night to eat, and since we know she's not starving we've decided to try and let her cry it out. It's going fairly well so far.

We love baby Eleanor and can't imagine our family without her spunky little personality.

9 Months?!?! She's practically one already!! Crazy how fast these babies grow up. She is only 9ounces heavier than my six month old...I feel your back pain!! :) She is a doll, I can't wait to meet her!

How in the world did she get her hands on Mario? Did Ethan abandon him because he is missing a hand?

she's the same size as calvin(bigger)
how will this epidural thing work? Is it a really temporary/immediate solution so they can check things out?
