Yesterday was a good day. Not only did we find out that we're having a baby girl, but we got to celebrate Ethan's 2nd Birthday! He wasn't in the best of moods when he woke up (maybe it was because he woke up at 2 am and we forced him back to bed until 8), but when we came downstairs and he saw that his Grandma and Grandpa Mudrick bought him a basketball hoop he perked right up. He then opened up some toys from his favorite morning show, Super Why. He held on to those little toys the entire day... through the ultrasound appointment, lunch, nap time and even dinner. He had a hard time trying to eat his spaghetti dinner with a toy in each hand. He ended up having me feed him. Stinker.
After dinner we got to eat cake with our next door neighbor and her kids. I made a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream in the middle and it went over well. After cake Ethan opened up what is now his most prized possessions. Buzz Lightyear and Woody. He was so excited to get these guys that he couldn't let go for them for even a second. It made bath time a scream fest. We didn't let him take them in the tub and he cried and screamed for what was possibly his shortest bath ever. Of course he quickly cheered up when he got his toys back. They ended up going to bed with him last night and this morning he played with them in his crib for a while instead of waking us up with him yelling, "Dadd-io!!!". We were happy to sleep in just a little bit this morning.
We're so happy to have Ethan in our family and can't wait to see how he'll be with his little sister. Now on to the photo display of yesterday's festivities.

The birthday banner I made from
this tutorial.

Ethan played and rearranged toys all day.

He's a spaghetti fan.

Stuffing his face.

As you can see, the Super Why toys were quickly abandoned for Toy Story toys.

Someone slept very well last night thanks to some friends.

I love that last photo of him holding his Toy Story toys.
So cute, I cannot even believe that he is 2 already!! Crazy. My mom used to make me a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream, "my favorite", for by birthday every year...until I finally got the courage to let her know that I actually don't really like those flavors and in fact my favorite is a yellow cake with cookies and cream ice cream... I guess that is what happens when you have five kids' "favorite things" to remember! :)
so many great pics in this post. ethan on the table with those chubby ankles, the one with someone feeding him cake while his finger is in his belly button and him sleeping with his new possessions. im so excited you are having a girl. gap seriously makes the cutest baby girl clothes. calvin is going to be surrounded by girls girls girls. not that he is complaining, he is happy. he told me.

Those pictures with the Toy Story toys... priceless!! I love it. And that cake sounded delish!!
SO CUTE!! I'm glad he had a fun day. We saw the pic of him at Disneyland with Woody...you should frame one for him! We have the toy story book on the IPAD, so we will have fun watching him play with that! Can't wait for our trip...
That last picture is priceless! I think it is the cutest thing when kids get to the age where they love something so much they have to sleep with them! Don't you wish you could understand that love? Such a cute kid! Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Ethan and congrats on the baby girl. Nathan and I are so excited for you guys. Girls are so fun, drama, but so fun!
