Niagara On The Lake and a Big Birthday!

Just one more trip to talk about and I'll be done... I promise! This last weekend we went to Niagara on the Lake with my parents who were in town for 3 days. We picked them up from the airport and headed straight to Canada. It sounds so exotic, right?! Niagara on the Lake isn't too far from us (depending on which customs agent you get at the border), probably about 2 hours away. It's a quaint little town located right above Niagara Falls and totally worth the drive if you're going to Niagara Falls.

Once again, we took many pictures, so we'll let the pictures do the talkin'.

This reminded me of Main Street at Disneyland minus Mickey.

All the flowers were gorgeous.

Our dapper little man.

Swinging with Grandpa in the local park.

Ben was on the other end of this thing talking to Ethan and Ethan just kept screaming back.

Family picture time. Don't mind the cheesy smiles. We were literally saying "cheese".

One of the cute Victorian homes in the area.

Can you see Toronto on the horizon?

Ethan has become quite the ham with the camera.

We had dinner at one of the local vineyards. Not a shabby view to see out the window while dining.

The sunset was gorgeous, though you can't really tell.

Ethan in a giant Adirondack chair.

The wonderful people we spent the weekend with: my folks and Rob & Gail Stoddart. Rob is one of my Dad's college swimming buddies that lives in London, Ontario so he and his wife met up with us while we were there.

On Monday Ben turned 30 and what better way to spend it than by driving back from Canada and then going straight to work, right? At least we got to go out to eat at PF Changs later that night to make the day better. I felt a little guilty that I didn't get Ben anything special, but being the practical (cheap) couple that we are, I returned the gift he gave me for my birthday so that makes us even, right? I'll have to make it up to him at some point, I know.

The next day while Ben was at work, my Dad helped me get some projects done around the house so that Ben wouldn't have to do them. We (meaning mostly my Dad), installed a handrail at the top portion of our stairs, went and got skeleton keys made and drilled out holes in the door frame so we can lock the bathroom door (sorry to all our previous guests who didn't have that luxury), stripped a desk we got from the Mudrick's on our last trip down there, and built shelves to organize our basement. I'm on a project kick now and I've got some antique restoring to do around the house which I will designate Ethan's nap time to.

So that's all we've got for now. Nowhere to go until Thanksgiving most likely. Maybe I'll get stir crazy before then and plan a little weekend trip. You never know.
