Memorial Day

So it's almost a week late, but I figured better late than never with the pictures from last week.

We love Rochester for many reasons, but one is that they have a parade for everything. I think the first one we experienced after moving here was the Labor Day parade, where we saw giant floats with rats holding bags of money. Whatever, it was festive. So since it was a holiday, there was of course a parade. Though slightly sad and somewhat uninteresting, the kids seem to usually enjoy the parade which consists of high school ROTC groups, some marching bands, some veterans and a bunch of cars. This year was no different though we were joined by our friends the Neals. The kids loved munching on donuts and watching the spectacle. The good thing about the Memorial Day parade is that it isn't crazy busy so it was easy to find a front row seat in the shade. Ethan, being USA's number one fan, wore his USA shirt and his Captain America mask. He sported it for a couple hours and got a lot of waves from people in the parade. He's a ham.

After the parade we headed into our backyard to go exploring in the woods. The kids loved balancing on fallen logs, and we enjoyed the stroll through the shaded grove. After our adventure out we headed back to our house to feast on some KFC. Yes, KFC. We rarely eat at KFC, but with an American Holiday like Memorial Day you have to eat American. Even if it's slightly gross (I may have enjoyed my fried chicken and biscuit, but don't tell anyone).

By the afternoon it had gotten ridiculously hot so we lounged around inside before heading to a friends home for a huge pool party/BBQ. We let Ethan get in the pool by himself and mistakenly let Eleanor dip her feet in right before we left. She SO wanted to get in! It was a great Memorial Day and was nice to have an extended weekend where we got Ben all to ourselves.

We wish we could have been there with you. I LOVE Ethan's mask during the parade. So patriotic! haha!
