Ben and I stayed up until 2 am (granted we didn't start until about 11:30) the night before making fondant Mario symbols for Ethan's cake. It was a little bit of a learning curve since neither of us had worked with fondant, but we've watched a whole lot of Food Network cake competitions. Both of us were proud, yet slightly embarrassed of Ethan's cake, but he loved it. Especially the Mario figurine on top that he now carries with him just about everywhere.
We also feasted on some delicious pulled pork, hot dogs, fruit salad, veggies, chips and potato salad. And to add a little spice to the party we bought a 36 pack of mustaches for people to wear. Ethan was so excited for them that he wore one practically the entire party. Well, he did take it off to blow out the candles on his cake (as seen in the video).
We had a great time with everybody and were happy to celebrate the little man's birthday with good friends. Ethan was really into his birthday this year so it's been fun to plan this whole thing. In fact since it's been a couple weeks in the making he insists that his birthday isn't over and that he is still 2 years old. Sorry buddy, that trick isn't going to work on us.

I've never worked with fondant but it sure didn't look like it was your first time! That cake is awesome!
Such a great outdoor spring birthday and a delicious cake. I can't wait to watch this video when they are graduating high school.
