All in all, it was a pretty cool day, I guess. We started off by going to what the people around here call "the beach", but having been to San Diego recently, I can assure you that the people up here have no idea what they are talking about. I mean, there was sand and water and stuff, but no waves or hip surfers or palm trees. Plus, the lifeguards closed the water for "high bacteria levels." Yuck.
Anyway, we had a picnic, watched some ladies with too many tattoos play volleyball and walked down the pier. To tell you the truth, it was actually pretty fun, but now that I've been to California, I have to act like nothing else is quite as cool. That's the California way.
After walking around near the water, we took a couple rides on a carousel. Supposedly it's historic or something, but it just looked like a bunch of animals on poles to me. Sometimes people throw the word "historic" around a little too much if you ask me. The Declaration of Independence. Yes. A carousel. I don't think so.
Anyway, I had a good time on the ride even though I think it could've used a loop or two to spice things up.
After that we went home and took naps and then went out to dinner. Of course my Mom wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory. I keep telling my parents that we need to support local establishments instead of these corporate behemoths, but they never listen. When my birthday rolls around again, it's garbage plates at Nick Tahou's for me.
Well, that's basically a recap of the day. There's probably more I could write about, but I'm just a kid, so back off.
Mom, I love you and am glad that I got to spend the day with you. I guess it was okay that Dad tagged along as well, but we all know you're the star around here. I hope you had a great Birthday.
Love, Ethan
P.S. Here are some more pictures from the day. Yes, I know they are all of me even though it was my Mom's Birthday, but how can you resist a face like this?
