San Fransisco

I just got back from my weekend getaway to San Francisco to meet up with my childhood best friend Lindsey. We had such a great time especially since she is newly engaged and I am expecting, so every place we went we were trying to get each other hyped about the big life-changing events taking place. It was pretty sunny my first day in San Fran, so we were able to enjoy lunch outside (which would NEVER happen in Rochester in the winter). While walking home it drizzled a little bit and it was like that for the next few days.

On Saturday we were able to meet up with a friend of mine from BYU, Cameron and his wife Shannon (plus her Mom) for brunch in Walnut Creek. It had been a couple years since I saw Cameron and it was nice to finally meet his wife. They treated us to brunch and Lindsey and I walked around Walnut Creek, did some shopping and bought some delicious frozen yogurt. We lounged around that night, had dinner at home with her fiancé Pat and watched TV.

On Sunday I was able to go to church with my friend Kim who also lives in the city with her husband Nick. Though we weren't able to catch up too much with her in charge of the nursery in her ward it was great to see her. After church Lindsey and I drove down to Fishermans Wharf and got some much needed In-N-Out. It had been over 2 years since the last time I had a meal from there so it was a MUST!

On Monday Lindsey took the day off and we played tourists around the city. Since we walked the entire day we felt we deserved to indulge when it came to food. We got Specialty's cookies, Jamba Juice, Kara's Cupcakes, some Ghiradelli chocolate, steak salad from Houstons... mmm, mmm, mmmm!! Everything was SO good! And to top it off, that night we went to a little Italian restaurant and I got some gnocchi. Also, during the day I was able to purchase some needed maternity clothes from the Gap since there isn't a maternity section out here. I think Lindsey enjoyed this part of the day more than I did since she wanted me to buy practically everything, but all the while I had Ben's voice in my head telling me not to overspend. Here is a little taste of the things I got to enjoy in SF:

Of course all good things must come to an end, so I flew out of SF on Tuesday morning only to await mad chaos at my second layover in Detroit. After the plane was delayed for over an hour and a half, the person at the gate let all the passengers know that the flight was canceled. By the time the news was given to us, it was already past 11pm and since it was weather related, the airline was not going to compensate or put any of the passengers up in hotels. I had already been traveling for over 12 hours and was exhausted and for some reason it all got to me and I started crying (yeah, unbelievable to some of you). The lady at the counter asked if I was going to be alright and I told her I was just hormonal, but really I was not looking forward to finding a place to stay, trekking there and coming back to the airport in the morning all by my lonesome. Ben was a trooper and stayed up with me over the course of about 15 phone calls until I got to the hotel and was in for the night. This morning on the flight to New York almost all the passengers were from the night before and some of them had ended up sleeping at the airport. What was crazy was that we didn't even get to fly into Rochester, we had to go to Buffalo, so Ben had to drive out to get me and miss work this morning. What a good husband! I was so glad to see him and so glad to be home after my nightmare of travels. Next time he'll just have to come with me I guess. Thanks again to Lindsey for being a great host to a pregnant lady and an excellent tour guide!

Mmmmmm, In-n-out. Love the pics. Are they with your new camera?

Your trip sounds more expensive than the Fetcher Weekend in Utah. I guess you'll have to let Ben go again next year.
PS I've never seen you or Ben cry. Ever.

It's too bad the highs of a good vacation usually get canceled out by the lows in getting back from said vacation.

Sorry to hear it brought you to tears. Glad Ben was there for you.

Remember how the last time you cried was because you were laughing so hard at me when we were getting ready to take the ferry to the statue of liberty? I miss you so much!!!! Its not fair that you moved away from me. Will you come fly to me in the future when I live on the other side of the country even though it means risking potential airport nightmares????

Amanda,
Sounds like you have had too much fun recently!
Thanks for the comment on our blog, however, we are trying to make people scroll down for the news. That's why we deleted it, sorry.

Ask me sometime about all the times I cried when I was preggo with Joshua ... the airport, the mechanic ... the list goes on. It's embarrassing, but I got my way most the time, so I guess it was a good thing too - lol!

Glad you're home safe!

Looks like you had so much fun, until you got to the airport!! That is horrible! I guess you're lucky the babe was in your tummy and not in a stroller for that adventure!!

What fun! I loved seeing pictures of your prego-little belly! You look great. And isn't it fun that when we're pregnant we really have absolutely no control over our emotions? Dang hormones!
