In his honor, here are 6 things that make Jesse awesome (sorry in advance if some of these make no sense to you):
1. Breaking tradition with all 5 of his siblings and Mother, Jesse decided to turn down an offer of acceptance to BYU and instead went to some tiny, obscure, and academically inferior East Coast school. I doubt you've even heard of it.
2. Jesse is kind enough to let his older brother (Me) still beat him in "Tips" every once and awhile, even though he surpassed me in basketball skills around the time that he turned 12.
3. If you want Jesse to do anything for you, just offer him a Wildcats card.
4. Because of his great achievements in swimming, Jesse was the subject of some local press. Some of his quotes have even made it onto the internet. Here is my favorite, which should inspire any young athlete to strive for excellence,"I'm going to states with nothing to lose. I don't expect to place high, but I'm just happy to be going." Ah, Classic Mudrick optimism.
5. As a Senior in High School, Jesse won Mr. Seahawk, a male "beauty" pageant at South Lakes High School. For his formal wear, he dressed like a geisha. For his talent, he performed the "Rainbow Connection" on the banjo, dressed like Kermit the Frog. See, he's multi-talented.
6. Jesse was not yet born when our family lived to Alaska for a year. He did, however, see everything that happened during the trip, because, according to a 5 or 6 year old Jesse, he "saw it out of Mom's ear."
I could, of course, go on and on, but I have to study Secure Transactions (whatever that means).
As you can clearly see, Jesse is a wonderful person, and I am lucky to have him as a brother and as a friend. Luckily for the family, he does not leave for the MTC until the first week of September (which means he gets to help with our move to Rochester!!!). That also means that Jesse will still be around when Jacob gets home from his mission in August, so all of the Mudrick clan will be able to get back together for a big time party.
Oh, and if any if you doubt that Jesse had the passion and enthusiasm to really throw himself into the mission lifestyle, I offer you this photographic evidence (he is the third from the left getting pumped up for a summer movie):

at what point did you realize that your little brother was cooler than you?
I think he passed us all around 1999.
The Fantastic Four was the worst movie I've ever seen, and I'm embarrassed for having dressed up like that.
Thanks Ben
Jesse,
I think it's pretty obvious from the pictures that you guys dressed up in a cool, tongue and cheek way, to make fun of other people who dress up for movies in an uncool, sincere way. So, you don't have to be embarrassed about it.
Well, on second thought, you probably should still be pretty embarrassed. I mean, the Silver Surfer!?!?!?
there was a big ad that had a life size silver surfer and my friend thought that if he dressed up and got all into it they'd give it to him
instead we just left dry paint all over our seats!
No, he should be very embarrassed. The movie he dressed up for wasn't Fantastic Four, it was Nancy Drew.
I believe he did Rainbow Connection his junior year when he almost beat out a senior for Mr. Seahawk. What did he do his senior year for his talent? Brittany Spears something? Yes, Jesse is cooler than all of us. He's even hung out with Haley Joel Osmond.
You're right Julie. Jesse hanging out with Haley "I See Dead People" (or "Walker told me I have Aids") Joel Osment and watching him get high has to be the best thing of all, and I left it off. I really blew it. Maybe I'm just not cut out for this blogging thing.
Give me his address and I'll send him a CD with all the Pimsleur Chinese lessons I was listening to when I was taking a hack at the Chinese language. If he's like the rest of your overachieving Mudrick types he'll probably be semi-fluent by the time he gets to the MTC.
that is awesome that Jesse is going to taiwan, he'll love the language, food, people, and obviously teaching the gospel. I probably can't give that much advice about taiwan, just that the language is hard but fun, especially the tones, the food is really good, and sometimes it is hard to distinguish between teenage boys and girls because of their hairstyles, that is not really advice, just observations. Jesse will love it.
